An eery green visage covers the plain
in shrouds of grey and jade
wind picks up
and people begin to run
inside underground on the earth
anywhere to escape
a sudden silence
then it came
a
funnel charcoal grey
spinning like a blender possessed
it kidnapped items cherished
instilling fear abroad,
we forget all we were taught
blinded
by rain, she hid under a willow
shamelessly the storm threw its weapons
and the poor girl was smote
another family lost a father
taken by the monster
a
small boy sat still
out of sight from his windowsill
the silent screaming of the air
soon brought arms to bear
rampaging
over houses with glee
something took its power suddenly
the small boy pried open his eyes
and saw the world for what
it was:
a wasteland once a beautiful sea of life
